Frequently Asked Questions

What is Spark?

Spark Aligners are a clear alternative to braces.  Spark is a series of removable aligners that are custom made for you by using advanced 3D computer technology with the science of orthodontics.  Dr. Moore works closely with the CAD/CAM technology so she can design your perfect smile.  As you progress through the series of aligners, your teeth will become straighter.  Aligners can give you the smile you have always wanted without the use of braces.

Is Spark right for me?

Spark aligners work great for a variety of bite problems and alignment issues as well as busy lifestyles.  However, there are some instances in which aligners are not efficient and braces can be a better option.  To find out if aligners are right for you, schedule a free consultation and discuss your concerns with Dr. Moore.

What does Spark look like?

Sparkis a very discreet, clear aligner that is custom made to fit your teeth.

What are attachments?

Attachments are tooth colored bumps that are placed temporarily on your teeth.  These attachments are critical in order to allow for proper tooth movement as well as retention for each aligner.  Once your aligner treatment is completed, they are easily polished off.

How do I wear the aligners?

Aligners are worn for 22 hours per day.  They are worn full time, including while sleeping, but have to be removed prior to eating or drinking.  You may drink plain, cold water with the aligners in place.  The best part about aligners is that there are no food restrictions.

Can I play sports with my Aligners?

For most sports, you can wear your aligners.  If your sport requires a mouthguard, it is best to remove your aligners and wear your mouthguard.  Once your practice or game is finished, put your Spark aligners back into your mouth.

Will I have difficulty talking with Aligners?

For the first several days, it will be difficult to speak clearly.  However, as you get used to your aligners, your speech will return to normal.  If you have to give a work presentation or a speech at school, the aligners can be removed at that time.

How do I clean my aligners?

Clean your Spark aligners at least once per day.  To clean your aligners, you may use toothpaste and a toothbrush or just use lukewarm water.  Never use hot water to clean your aligners or the aligners may become distorted.
